Reference IDs are unique IDs assigned to each and every item, object and NPC in Fallout 4. They are used to refer to a specific instance of anything.

For example, if you spawned two Nuclear Material which has a base ID of 00069086, each of the two Nuclear Materials would have a different reference ID. If you wanted to delete one of the Nuclear Materials, you could reference a specific one of the two Nuclear Material with its reference ID.

A reference ID is also often referred to as a Target ID, because they are used in target commands. All objects, items and NPCs have a reference ID - not just those that are spawned in. Signal messenger for mac.

There are two parts to this guide:

How to Find the Reference ID of an Item, Object, NPC or Character

There are many ways to find out the reference ID of an item, object, NPC or character in Fallout. Here are a few:

  1. By clicking on something in the game whilst the console is open. The reference ID of the clicked object will be printed to the console.
  2. By using the GetPlayerGrabbedRef Command. Simply press and hold E on an item in the world, open your console, and type getplayergrabbedref.
  3. You can find out the reference ID of an item you previously spawned with the PickLastRef and GetSelectedRef commands. Simply type picklastref; getselectedref; into the console and the refence ID of your last spawned item will be printed to the console.

How to Use Reference IDs in Commands

Reference IDs are most commonly used in target commands. Target commands require you to type the reference ID, followed by a . before the command.

For example, if you wanted to kill an NPC with the reference ID ff0084953, you could use the kill command. All you'd have to do is put ff0084953. before the command: ff0084953.kill.

With most commands that requrire a reference ID (sometimes referred to as a target ID), you can just select the object/item/NPC you wish to execute the command on and type the command without the reference ID and . before it. The Minutemen have been out of the picture for far too long, and Preston Garvey now sees an opportunity with the Sole Survivor, in which he may rebuild the organization, and be a force of good for the Commonwealth once again.

Fallout 4 Quest List

Walkthrough

  1. After taking care of two assignments for Preston, he will reveal a bit more of the Minutemen’s history to the Sole Survivor, and will express his desire to take back their old citadel, referred to as the Castle.
  2. Upon traveling to the Castle, the area is found to be under the control of a rather large group of mirelurks of most variants, which must be dealt with in order to re-secure the area.
  3. The first goal is to take out the nesting mirelurks in the area, both inside and outside of the crumbling fort.
  4. After the mirelurks guards have been dealt with, their egg clusters must be dealt with. While smashing eggs in each egg cluster, 2-3 eggs will hatch in each cluster, forcing the Minutemen and the Sole Survivor to deal with the offspring.
  5. Once a percentage of egg clusters have been dealt with, one of the Minutemen on watch, will alert the group to a large creature swimming towards them from the Castle’s outskirts.
  6. The creature is seen to be a towering mirelurk queen, angered by the death of her children, and she must be dealt with in order to secure The Castle fully.
  7. After dealing with the mirelurk queen, the Minutemen will take control of the Castle’s radio transmitter, which is currently unpowered.
  8. The Sole Survivor will gain access to the Castle as a settlement option, in which they must power the radio transmitter with a large generator in order to progress the Minutemen’s quest-line further.

Reward

  • The Castle is unlocked as a workshop settlement.
  • After the radio transmitter has been powered up, the Minutemen on station will regularly pump out news and updates through Radio Freedom. Regularly listening in on this radio station will update the Sole Survivor with repeatable quests.
